This posting is for a position within the Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Gastroenterology under Principal Investigator Eileen Carpenter. This position will focus on biorepository management of pancreatic cancer biospecimens and laboratory experiments using human samples.
Half of the workload will be dedicated to investigating the pathogenesis of pancreatic cancer and mechanisms of progression utilizing an all-human pipeline of patient-derived organoid culture and immune cells. Areas of interest include investigating pre-neoplastic lesions and mechanisms of chemoresistance. The technician will be in charge of establishing and maintaining human pancreatic cancer organoid lines and performing necessary experiments including, but not limited to, organoid/immune cell/fibroblast co-culture, cytotoxic cell assays with chemotherapeutic drugs, flow cytometric and mass cytometric analysis, and will engage in some facets of single cell sequencing processing and analysis.
The other half of the workload will be dedicated to human biospecimen management, including but not limited to; patient data collection, managing blood and tissue samples, deidentifying, processing, and delivering the samples to the proper lab. The employee will need to work with gastroenterology, surgery, interventional radiology, clinics, and research labs to aid in the successful collection and processing of specimens. Consenting patients, plan for the collection of biospecimens, processing samples in the laboratory, and perform laboratory experiments, including but not limited to western blots, and cell and organoid culture experiments in a supervised capacity.
This position will be full-time with M-F hours that vary depending on need for the day. Hours can be discussed with supervisor as needed.
